Mission Statement

KUCR Radio 88.3fm’s mission is to serve a diverse audience with diverse programming, programmed and produced by UCR students, members of the campus community and select broadcast affiliates.  KUCR programs seek to be fresh, unheard elsewhere in the broadcast spectrum, artistically and aesthetically valid, challenging, interesting, informed and informing and of high content integrity. KUCR shall seek to exclude the commonplace and offer a unique listening experience, which exposes the listener to richly varied content offerings.

Diversity Activities

KUCR radio 88.3fm presents a rich world of diversity in its musical offerings, which range from western classical, to indigenous music from around the globe, from jazz, to funk, to hip-hop, to indie and alternative rock, to folk, to reggae, music of Central and South America, contemporary music from Africa, Asia and the Middle East—and more.  The station’s news and public affairs programs cover a broad diversity of issues, with responsible, credibile and authoritative content.  Coverage proceeds from diverse viewpoints, and includes world news, gay and lesbian issues, Native American, Education, the arts, Chicano-Latino, discussions of world history, science, language, philosophy, the media, and more.  KUCR radio has one of the most diverse set of programs available on any radio station anywhere, let alone the Inland Empire.

Future Diversity Activities

KUCR Radio 88.3fm will continue to produce its diverse program content.  The station will eventually convert to a digital transmission system, which will increase audio quality, as well as provide ancillary and complimentary services.  The station will develop further production facilities, including a web-video component.  Online archiving will be increased, with podcasting, text and more.
