International Education Center

Mission Statement

Our mission is to help internationalize the education experience offered at UC Riverside.  Within the broad context of a land-grant university, our Center is committed to the enhancement of international/cross-cultural education and research and to extension of its expertise and networks to the region at-large.

Diversity Activities

Our website is: internationalcenter.ucr.edu

The International Education Center focuses on student mobility, the on-going movement of students to and away from the United States. This is a rich and dynamic community in which to gain global perspectives. Domestic and international students are able to meet informally at the Center in dialog and in friendship.  International Peer Counselors, an all-volunteer student corps, serve as welcome ambassadors as students from around the world establish their “academic  homes” in Riverside, California.

Opportunities abroad participants serve as important representatives of the broad worldview as they return from study abroad to make classroom and club presentations.

Meeting every Wednesday, the International Women’s Exchange, campus and community women discuss topics of interest about the United States and from the home countries of visiting students.

Future Diversity Activities

Our Center serves as a resource center for student-initiated

global projects. Students who want an international perspective for a research paper come to meet someone from abroad. Students who want to connect with international projects in Riverside learn how to make the connection for their service learning. Occasional retreats or excursions are planned.
