“Guess Who’s Gay” Working with the LGBT Resource Center, we planned for a panel to come and speak to residents for this active program. Residents would ask the panelists questions and guess if the panelist was heterosexual, homosexual, etc, leading to a discussion about assumptions and stereotypes.
“Vagina Monologues” A Resident Advisor (RA) took residents to see the Vagina Monologues on campus.
“The Underground Dance Party” this is a program that helps to educate students on the issues that transgender students deal with on a regular basis, gender and gender expression as it relates to sexual orientation.
“Yom Kippur Passive” facts regarding Yom Kippur were posted around the Bannockburn Village and Plaza areas.
“Tunnel of Oppression” Students walk through areas that are planned around scenarios such as the Holocaust, racism, being short and an item being on the top shelf, genocide, homophobia.

Training:
“What’s Cooking” This is a film centering on the life of four LA families during thanksgiving 2000 followed by a discussion on diversity and similarities between cultures represented in the film and our student population
“Constructing Communication” Realizing the importance of communication and how it can vary is style; discussing the importance of playing multiple roles in the activity and how that directly relates to how we should approach diversity training; communicating what it means to be an active listener and active learner.
“Diversity and Pop Culture” Open dialogue about how pop culture and the media represent various topics of diversity and whether or not those representations are accurate based on real life experiences.
“Privilege Walk and Processing” Gain a deeper understanding of privilege and how it impacts each of us; gain an appreciation of how far some of their fellow team members have had to come; increase the sense of team togetherness.
“Oppression Activity and Processing” This exercise will provide participants a visual and emotional depiction of the concept of oppression and will allow participants to talk about and recognize how oppression affects their own experiences and the experiences of others.
