TRIO Programs

Mission Statement

Empowering youth, through knowledge, to earn a post-secondary education.  We strive to inspire them to realize their full potential and develop into role models for present and future generations

Diversity Activities

TRIO Programs offer a variety of services and activities aimed at increasing the academic preparation of low-income and first-generation college bound students, including:

  • Academic guidance at 13 partner high schools and 5 middle schools
  • Exposure to and visits to colleges and universities
  • 6 week Summer Residential Academy Program
  • Assistance in career /  college search and application processes
  • Assistance in searching and applying for financial aid
  • Parent information and education workshops
  • Cultural awareness trips
  • Leadership training

Future Diversity Activities

The TRIO Programs hosted at UCR all work with students who attend partner high schools and who have applied to and been accepted to the respective program.  Each program recruits new participants at the beginning of each academic year.  Each new cohort of participants is offered a comprehensive series of services and activities that build year to year so that the end result is a diverse group of students graduating high school that is fully prepared to succeed in the college/university of their choice.
